Full-Time, SF Bay Area (Remote)
We are hiring our founding designer. At Peer AI, we are building an AI platform for one of the most document-intensive and high-stakes industries: life sciences regulatory submission. Currently preparing the documents that get life-saving drugs approved by the FDA and EMA takes months. We're cutting that time by 55–94%. The downstream effect is real: treatments reach patients faster.
Most designers spend their careers polishing features at the margins. This isn't that. You'll be the first designer at Peer AI, owning design end-to-end, shaping how life sciences regulatory teams understand and control AI agents doing complex work, building the visual language and component system that scales with the product, and establishing how design operates as a function from the ground up. This is a high-autonomy role with direct influence on product direction. You'll have executive visibility from day one and the opportunity to grow and lead a design team as we scale.
About Peer AI
We're a Bay Area-founded, remote-friendly company backed by investors with deep roots in both technology and life sciences. Our platform is live with top-tier pharma customers today, and we're growing fast in a $23B addressable market spanning document authoring, submission workflow management, and agency interactions with the FDA and EMA.
Our Vision
At Peer AI, we are working to clear the path for important scientific and medical discoveries, so that treatments reach the patients who need them as quickly as possible.
Our Values
Drive Impact: We focus on delivering real results for our users. Making their work easier, better, and more meaningful.

Win as a Team: We succeed together. We build trust, share ownership, and help each other grow every day.
Role Overview
This role collaborates closely with Product and Engineering. You will be the founding designer at Peer AI, which means you will have a direct hand in establishing how the design function operates from the ground up. This comes with real executive visibility and an opportunity to shape the direction of the product in a meaningful way, with the opportunity to build and lead the design team as we grow.
What You'll Work on:
AI interaction design that actually builds trust
Translate complex AI agent behavior and tasks into clear, intuitive, user-centred designs, making complex, multi-step automation feel legible and controllable.
Our users are expert regulatory writers who are skeptical by profession - this is one of the hard problems you’ll own.
End-to-end ownership
Lead the design of end-to-end product experiences, from initial concept through shipped product.
You'll run discovery, prototype flows, drive alignment with product and engineering, and hold the quality bar all the way to production.
A design system built for experts
Our users live inside the product for hours at a time, working on high-stakes documents. The system you build needs to be precise, consistent, and designed for depth.
Champion a high design bar, helping the team make thoughtful, intentional decisions at every step.
Cross-functional influence
You'll work directly with the founders, product managers, and engineers — helping shape what gets built, not just how it looks.
About you
5+ years of product and UX design experience in a fast-paced environment, ideally at a B2B SaaS or AI startup.
Experience designing for AI products - agent UIs, copilots, or workflow automation tools.
A track record of owning design outcomes, not just deliverables.
Strong user research instincts - you find out how people actually think, work, and get stuck.
Fluency with modern AI design tools (Figma AI, generative UI tools, LLMs as a prototyping partner.)
Clear communicator who can defend design decisions to engineers and non-designers alike.
Bonus points
Previous experience as a sole or founding designer.
Experience in interaction design for document-heavy workflows or regulated-industry software.
Familiarity with FDA/EMA submission processes.
Work Environment & Travel
Location: Remote-first (US time zones) with occasional travel, including quarterly offsite in San Francisco. Bay Area based strongly preferred.
Travel: ~25% for onsite workshops, industry conferences, and QBRs.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive base salary plus bonus compensation tied to retention and expansion targets.
Equity grant in a high-growth, venture-backed company.
Comprehensive healthcare benefits.
401(k) matching.
