Technical Pre-Sales Engineer

Technical Pre-Sales Engineer

Full-Time, Remote

Why this role is exciting

Be the technical voice that turns pharma and biotech evaluators into believers. Peer AI operates in a market where trust is earned through depth, not slides - regulatory affairs leaders and IT/security reviewers alike need to see exactly how our platform handles their documents, their data, and their compliance requirements. You'll own that conversation: running discovery, building tailored demos, and answering the hard technical and regulatory questions that decide whether a deal moves forward. This role sits at the intersection of product, engineering, and sales, and the person who takes it will help define what technical pre-sales looks like at Peer.

About Peer AI

We're a Bay Area-founded, remote-friendly company backed by investors with deep roots in both technology and life sciences. Our platform is live with top-tier pharma customers today, and we're growing fast in a $23B addressable market spanning document authoring, submission workflow management, and agency interactions with the FDA and EMA.

Our Vision

At Peer AI, we are working to clear the path for important scientific and medical discoveries, so that treatments reach the patients who need them as quickly as possible.

Our Values
  • Drive Impact: We focus on delivering real results for our users. Making their work easier, better, and more meaningful.

  • Be the Expert: We lead with deep expertise, curiosity, and honesty to guide others toward the best outcomes.

  • Go for Great: We take pride in pushing past good enough to deliver standout work in every detail.

  • Win as a Team: We succeed together. We build trust, share ownership, and help each other grow every day.

  • Do Right by Everyone: We honor the trust our customers, investors, and teammates place in us by choosing integrity, transparency, and long-term relationships over shortcuts and short-term gains.

How We Work

Peer AI is an AI-native company, and we want our go-to-market organization to be AI-native too. We use AI throughout how we build demos, prepare for calls, answer technical questionnaires, and turn prospect feedback into product input. We look for people who ask what can be automated, what should become a reusable system instead of a one-off deliverable, and where human judgment and relationship-building create the most value. These roles are intentionally broader than their traditional equivalents because we want the people who join us to help redefine the function itself.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with Account Executives on enterprise deals, running technical discovery to understand a prospect's regulatory document workflows, systems, and pain points.

  • Design and deliver customized product demos that map Peer AI's agentic architecture (CSR, Protocol, IND, Narrative, Module 2.6.6, ICF, PLS agents) to a prospect's specific use cases.

  • Own technical responses in RFPs/RFIs, including security questionnaires, data handling, and 21 CFR Part 11 / GxP compliance topics.

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact during evaluations and pilots, coordinating with Engineering and Product on scoping, edge cases, and feasibility.

  • Translate prospect feedback and objections into structured input for Product and Engineering.

  • Build and maintain a library of demo environments, technical FAQs, and objection-handling materials tailored to pharma/biotech buyers.

  • Support onboarding of new customers during the handoff from sales to implementation.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 3+ years in a technical pre-sales, solutions engineering, or sales engineering role at a B2B SaaS company, ideally selling into regulated industries (life sciences, healthcare, financial services).

  • Comfort presenting to and fielding hard questions from both business stakeholders (regulatory affairs, clinical ops) and technical stakeholders (IT, security, quality/compliance).

  • Familiarity with, or strong ability to quickly learn, pharma regulatory processes and document types (INDs, CSRs, protocols) and frameworks like 21 CFR Part 11.

  • Experience handling security and compliance questionnaires (SOC 2, data privacy, GxP validation concepts).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex AI/technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with AI/LLM-based products and speaking credibly to model behavior, validation, and non-determinism concerns.

  • Experience selling into pharma, biotech, or another domain where regulatory rigor and auditability are central to the buying decision.

  • Familiarity with building or maintaining demo environments and technical enablement content at an early-stage company.

What We Offer

  • Meaningful equity grant in a high-growth, venture-backed company.

  • Remote-first setup with quarterly on-sites in San Francisco.

  • Comprehensive health coverage, 12 weeks paid parental leave, and monthly home-office stipends.

  • Unlimited PTO and a mission that directly accelerates life-saving clinical research.
