We are seeking our first commercial hire – an experienced Head of Commercial to lead our revenue growth and build a world-class sales organization.
This is an important commercial leadership role requiring individual contribution at the beginning (70%) to establish the sales process while also building a team and providing strategic sales leadership (30%).. You'll report directly to the CEO and work hand in hand with the founding team. You will be responsible for developing repeatable sales processes and building the sales muscle needed for sustainable growth and consistent product-market fit.
The ideal candidate thrives in the balance between closing strategic deals personally while building the systems, processes, and team culture needed to develop repeatable sales motions and land-and-expand capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
Individual Contribution (70% of role)
Strategic Deal Leadership
Lead complex enterprise sales cycles for Top 20 pharma and $5B+ biotech prospects
Personally manage relationships with C-suite executives and VP-level stakeholders
Demonstrate advanced solution selling for the most complex regulatory AI implementations
Sales Leadership & Team Management (30% of role)
Team Development & Performance
Recruit, Manage and develop existing Account Executive plus build team to 3-4 AEs total within 18 months
Partner with founder team on complex deal strategy and relationship leverage
Build repeatable sales processes and methodologies to establish consistent pipeline generation
Implement performance management systems and career development pathways
Sales Operations & Process Excellence
Build scalable sales processes, methodologies, and enabling technologies
Establish predictable pipeline management and forecasting accuracy
Develop territory planning and account segmentation strategies
Create sales training, sales playbooks, battle cards, and competitive positioning materials
Optimize CRM systems and sales engagement platforms
Revenue Strategy & Growth
Own overall revenue strategy and quarterly/annual planning processes
Develop growth strategies to expand ARR year over year with existing customers
Collaborate with marketing on lead generation, content strategy, and campaign effectiveness
Drive thought leadership through industry conference participation and customer advocacy
Cross-Functional Leadership
Work closely with Customer Success on expansion revenue and retention
Partner with product team on roadmap prioritization based on market feedback
Collaborate with engineering and medical writing teams on complex proof-of-concepts and integrations
Partner with the founders on contract negotiations and revenue recognition
Provide market intelligence to inform product development and competitive strategy
Must‑Have Qualifications
Experience
10-15 years of B2B software sales experience with 5+ years in sales leadership roles
3+ years selling enterprise solutions to life sciences/pharmaceutical companies
Proven track record managing $5M+ in annual individual or team quotas
Excels at navigating startup ambiguity and fast-paced market dynamics to help establish category leadership
Experience scaling sales teams and developing repeatable processes in early-stage, high-growth environments
Success in both hands-on selling and building foundational sales processes to achieve consistent market fit
Industry Expertise
Deep understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory operations and enterprise workflows
Experience with regulatory technology, clinical trial software, or life sciences IT solutions
Knowledge of global regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, ICH guidelines)
Network of relationships within target pharma and biotech accounts preferred
Understanding of AI/ML technology adoption patterns in conservative industries
Leadership & Skills
Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain high-performing sales talent
Experience implementing sales methodologies (MEDDIC, Challenger Sale, or similar)
Strong analytical skills with experience in sales forecasting and pipeline management
Executive presence with ability to present to C-level audiences and board members
Cross-functional collaboration skills with product, marketing, and customer success teams
Technical Competencies
Proficiency with enterprise CRM system like Hubspot
Experience with sales engagement platforms, proposal software, and revenue operations tools
Comfort with technical demos and enterprise software implementations
Understanding of SaaS metrics, unit economics, and recurring revenue models
